Vi editor in ubuntu vs mac2/17/2023 ![]() ![]() mounting needs a simple command as follows. Being root and trying to learn vi together is a really, really dangerous thing to do. Jokes aside, I concur that for casual use better resort to nano. That means alphabetical, numeric and punctuation keys all have to do a unique thing when pressedinstead of typing out a character on screen. A lot of people (including myself since relatively short ago) is unable to edit using vi.:-). It will show all the packages that will be installed with Vim. The primary difference between nano and Vim is that the intended audiences are very different. All you need to do is to use the following command: sudo apt install vim. This means that you don’t have to do any extra effort in installing Vim on Ubuntu. When you are in the command mode, type ZZ. The easiest way to save your changes and exit vi is with the ZZ command. You can combine the above command with the quit command, or use :wq and return. The command to save the contents of the editor is :w. The downloaded file stored in Downloads folder (in my case) is a disk image file which needs to be mounted to the Volumes directory. The good thing is that Ubuntu is available in the main Ubuntu repository. This lets you exit vi without saving any of the changes.
